Singapore: Three Fantastic Places to Take the Kids

Singapore: Three Fantastic Places to Take the Kids

You know how much I love Singapore for the kids. Momaboard community member Pavitra Sridhar just got back from a trip with her 3 and 1 year old boys and gave us the scoop on their favorite spots. Pavitra says:

We loved our trip to Singapore because different as we all are, there was something there for each of us. Here are some of highlights for the kids:

sing5Singapore Zoo:

Be prepared for a great zoo experience but also for a lot of walking. The sights and sounds mesmerized our older one and the younger one was equally intrigued! Due to the climate in Singapore, which can be stiflingly humid, make sure you keep plenty of water with you because the spots to buy more at the zoo can be far apart. It is possible to rent wagons or strollers at the zoo but the quantities are limited and we are not sure how much use you will really get if you have older kids. Our three year old spent most of the time walking. We were very thankful to have brought our own gear since the day we went they had already sold-out. If your kids are a little older you can also get to the night safari and the bird park, which are also very popular.

pavifamilySingapore Science Centre:

This was by far one of the highlights of the trip. The science museum has an indoor snow park where kids and parents can play in the snow together. Crazy for a place that routinely hits the 90′s (Fahrenheit)! The snow park has various activities for each age group. Our older one loved the indoor hill where they offered snow tubing. Two notes of advice here:

1. Bring your own cold weather gear – although they have coats, gloves, etc. to rent it is not guaranteed that you will have the sizes you want available
2. The snow park does not allow photography inside but take pictures for you which you can buy later – make sure that you get enough taken so that you have a selection to choose from

There are quite a few outdoor playgrounds around the science museum which are great and our kids played for a couple of hours after the snow park on the playgrounds. They were so exhausted so we skipped the main exhibits at the science center! Lots more to see inside though if you have the stamina!

sing6Go-Go Bambini:

This was an awesome find. It is an indoor playground for toddlers and has multiple ball pools, slides, rope bridges, etc. Our kids spent one entire morning there and were absolutely exhausted. It is great fun and provided for fantastic photographs as well. This is more popular with the expat family set in Singapore so it is a little hard to find but definitely worth it. It gave the kids a fun way to blow off steam and with two tired babies we could then get some adult time and of course retail therapy (a must-do in Singapore!).
