Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo, the capital of Japan conjures up images of impossibly tall skyscrapers, zig-zagging freeways and inebriated businessmen doing karaoke. Tokyo is all that and more.

Getting to Tokyo:

The easiest way to get to Tokyo is by plane. Narita airport used to be a two hour trek into the city, but now it is a convenient 36 minutes to the big Ueno station or an hour on local trains. Do not attempt to take a taxi into the center as it will cost you the price of your airfare (thereabouts)! You can find many resources for how to get to Tokyo and general Tokyo travel information on the web.

Tokyo amazed us with its side-street culture, where I discovered some of the most exclusive and delightful boutiques I have ever seen. Beware though: there are no street signs so it is challenging to get around. Finally, try the French food in Tokyo, supposedly the best in the world outside of France! Who’d have thought?!
