Harvard University Boston Boston is one of the oldest and most historically rich and significant cities in the United States. The city is considered the unofficial capital of the “New England” region for its economic and cultural significance. The city is also home to the world-famous Harvard University along with several other universities, and academic and research institutions making it one of the centers of innovation in the country. Boston sits on the Charles river and is known for its colonial architecture, historical sites, stately bridges and gorgeous fall colors.

Getting to Boston:

Boston is on the East Coast of the United States in the state of Massachussetts. Boston Logan Airport (IATA: BOS) is the main gateway to the city and New England region. Many major carriers fly directly into Boston from Europe whilst most flights from Asia will require at least one connection. Within the US, Boston is easily accessible via plane and by car, train, (Amtrak)or bus, particularly if you are in the eastern part of the country.

Getting Around Boston:

Boston "T" Subway Driving around Boston is not necessarily recommended for tourists as the streets are not on a grid or particularly easy to navigate. Parking also tends to be difficult. Boston, however, is meant to be a very walkable city with excellent public transportation. The Boston “T” (subway) serves major areas of the metropolitan well. Taxis are available but are expensive.

How Kid-Friendly is Boston?

Boston is an easy-going, friendly city with a lot for kids to do and see. Kids don’t even realize they’re receiving a history lesson at every turn in Boston, and with easy-to-use public transportation, families don’t need to rent a car.
