Sun, Seafood and Souvenirs in Sausalito

sausalito1If you are spending a few says in San Fracisco and want a complete feel of the Bay Area, a trip to Sausalito is essential. With the kids, take the boat over to enjoy a beautiful view of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Caution: Always bundle up on a boat in San Francisco, it is always deceptively chilly, even in summer.

The ferry terminal in Sausalito will drop you into the heart of town, on Bridgeway, the main street. Here you can stroll through several boutiques, art galleries and souvenir shops. Check out Cha Cha Cha for some cute kids’ clothes and accessories.

If you want to sit down and have a meal, there is no shortage of options in Sausalito. Since seafood is a must, I recommend Horizons, which offers sea views and a kid-friendly vibe, and Spinnaker which is a little more upscale. Note: Sausalito is pretty expensive.

On a sunny day you will find people chillaxing all around the streets, enjoy some fish and chips or an ice-cream at Lappert’s. It’s a good place to let the kids out of the pram but mind you, it can get a little crowded.

All in all, a fun way to spend a day away from the city.
