Sapna Rao is our Singapore Mombassador. Singapore is the ideal base from which to explore the region. Her 13 and 10 year old princesses have seen more luxury than most adults will see in their lifetime, and theirs is certainly an opinion to trust.
This is their guide to the best luxury hotels in Asia for families in random order:
1. Four Seasons Kuda Huraa Maldives
By far the best resort I have stayed at with kids. Just the standards leave everything else in the dust: spacious rooms with child friendly beds, slippers, robes etc. But the extras like the pool bar serving snacks and mocktails is a sign that someone has really thought this through. Similarly, the Kids’ Club is more than just arts and crafts and offers a wide choice of activities such as crab races and plant identification. You can also grab a boat ride out to the reef to check out spinner dolphins (includes a briefing on the species prior).
The kids’ menus offer interesting and delicious options and babysitting is available by the hour so the adults can sample a piece of paradise undisturbed. Amen!
2. Four Seasons in Hong Kong
Although not technically a resort, the Four Seasons in Hong Kong is all luxury. As city hotels go, it’s a great city hotel with kids, keeping up with the Four Seasons philosophy of “looking after the next generation”, which means free milk, cookies, kid-sized robes, etc.
The location carries unanimous appeal to foodies, shoppers and sightseers alike (in Hong Kong you can be all three at once) and it is a short distance and painless train ride to Hong Kong Disneyland.
The babysitting facilities in particular are commendable – the hotel will require your pre-approval after studying the babysitters profile/resume.
3. St Regis, Nusa Dua, Bali
This gorgeous resort offers large rooms with child friendly touches and features and a clean and safe beach with lifeguards (although this part of Bali is not terribly rough in terms of the currents). Child-friendly staff and great service make it all a great experience.
4. Legian Beach, Bali
Like many of the above, this resort too offers large rooms, suites, etc. with child-friendly touches such as kid beds. While the hotel offers excellent babysitting facilities, you will find that children are welcome at all the restaurants and that the kids’ meals go way beyond pasta and chips.
The staff is child-friendly and attentive and the beach access and water sports along with the two pools will ensure that the little ones are kept busy all day. The Kids’ Club also offers a host of activities along with free refreshments every day.
