Sunday, March 6th is Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom and we’d like to celebrate it by showcasing some of the cool moms around town. We’re thrilled to present to you, Dina Maktabi, editor of www.kensingtonmums.co.uk on family travel.
Why is traveling important for a family?
Traveling has been a passion in me since I was young and it’s still something I love to do, but as a family now! Visiting new countries lets you explore the world. learn about new cultures and traditions. We normally do research on our next holiday and get the kids involved too. The last holiday we did was to Egypt as my kids were intrigued about the Pyramids after watching so many documentaries and reading books on them. When we got there, we were so amazed to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
What are your favorite family travel destinations?
We love the sun and the sea, so anywhere on a sandy beach would do and that’s something the whole family enjoys. Whenever we are together, this is our favorite time!
What’s one of your biggest challenges when traveling with your kids?
Keeping them entertained on long flights. I think that’s every family’s struggle.
Who do you do to make it easier?
I now come prepared with everything you can think of in my hand luggage, especially if I am traveling alone with my kids. First and foremost, the iPad, this is a necessity on long flights just so other passengers don’t get annoyed or disturbed. I also carry wet wipes and a change of clothes for those little accidents which are sometimes inevitable with kids, their favorite toy and a book.
Give us one song from your road trip playlist!
We have a few, Hello from Adele which I have been obsessed with and Frozen soundtrack for the kids. Otherwise the radio is great too!
